Russian engineer. General Director of LNPO Soyuz 1989-1996. Leading designer in the chemistry and technology of solid rocket propellants.

Born: 1939-03-29.

He was the creator of unique solid propellant rocket technologies, including those used for intercontinental strategic missiles RS-12M and Topol-M. Author of more than 500 scientific papers and 170 patents. Born in Lany, Sokolovsky Drohobych district, Lviv; graduated from the chemical department of Lviv State University in 1961, doctor of technical sciences, professor; academician of RANS. Worked in the Research Chemical-Technological Institute (Dzerzhinsk, Moscow Region), in the NPO Soyuz (Lyubertsy, Moscow Region) in various positions. 1995-1996 was General Director - General Designer of the Federal Center for Dual Technologies Soyuz (created to accelerate the conversion in the defense industries). In 1996, he was appointed Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation on Defense Industries (Goskomoboronprom), after its transformation into a ministry in May 1996. became minister of the defense industry of the Russian Federation (in 1997 the ministry was abolished); 1997-1999 - State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation; in June 1999, he was appointed Director General of the Russian Agency for Ammunition. In April 2003, he left this post on his retirement. First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the State Conversion Fund from 1997; Deputy Chairman of the State Commission on Chemical Disarmament from 2001; laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1980) and the Lenin Prize (1984). Member of the Supreme Council of the Russian United Industrial Party (1995).
